German Food and German Wine Pairings

Wine and food should be paired well together if you want to get the best. You need to consider the preparation method, fat content, digestibility and intensity of the food. We must also look at the wine and its main characteristics. This includes the wine’s grape origin and quality characteristics. The wine style, maturity, level of alcohol, sweetness, or acidity.

For a Chinese banquet, you will need a German Spatburgunder or Pinot Noir, a dry Riesling and a German Spatburgunder. A Riesling should be balanced in flavor, aroma, body, weight, and smell (e.g. Riesling Kabinett). Red Pinot Noir is a good choice for heavier dishes like roast pork or Beijing duck. Both wines can be poured at the beginning of the meal to suit different tastes.

A dry Riesling or Pinot blanc, or a Silvaner from Franconia can be added to your Cantonese-based dinner. Silvaner Spatlese German wines can be used to complete the meal. German Sparkling Wines (e.g. Secco Juventa.

An intense Spatburgunder is the perfect wine for balancing strong flavors like chili sauce or black bean sauce. Spatburgunder dry). Portugieser and Dornfelder are good choices for roast meat dishes such as duck, goose, or porc. Portugieser Feinherb).
